17th Annual Austin Luckett Memorial Golf Tournament held for Catholic Charities
Posted on May 25, 2016
Catholic Charities’ Advisory Board provided 79 players with a fun filled day at the 17th Annual Austin Luckett Golf Outing held May 13 at Cardinal Golf Course.
The First place team was Sandschafer Electric Team. Team members Rockney Weber, Kurt Ziegler, Jerry Sandschafer and Tony Sandschafer are featured in above photo with Sr. Carol Beckermann, Catholic Charities Area Director. Second Place Team was the Grunloh Building, Inc. Their team members were Ed Grunloh, Lloyd Ludwig, Jeff Richards and Jeff Staser. Prizes for the Longest Putt went to Emily Luckett and Ron Donsbach. Chad Barr and Angela Woods were the winners of prizes awarded for Closest to the Pin. The Longest Drive prizes went to Theresa Loy and Ron Donsbach. A. J. Luckett was the winner of the $500 Raffle Grand Prize which was donated by Kent Schmidt/Smith Moore, Inc.
The golf outing is a fundraiser named in honor of Austin Luckett who passed away in July of 1999. He served as member of Effingham Catholic Charities Advisory Board and was an avid golfer. The first annual golf outing in Mr. Luckett’s memory was the inspiration of Carl Koerner who wanted to honor Austin’s memory and his commitment to the work of Catholic Charities.
Over the 17 years we have raised approximately $190,000. The money from this outing helps provide food to those who are hungry, gives school supplies to children who have need of the basic supplies, helps provide medicine to those who cannot otherwise pay for their medications, and provides rent and utility assistance so that people can remain in their homes.
