Effingham Catholic Charities Benefits from Unique Fundraiser

Jerry and Fran (Sandschafer) Thoele were 2 of the 75 people who attended the Sandschafer reunion in Grafton, IL.  Of course, with a group this large someone needs to be in charge of activities!  Two family members volunteered and, as there was a big flea market going on in Grafton, they decided to engage the family in a flea market flip.  The family members were to go to the flea market and come back with their purchased items for a family auction.  All the purchased items were put on display and the bidding began on the flea market items.  Once the bidding was complete, the family had raised $486.  They decided since Jerry Thoele works at Catholic Charities in Effingham and the agency’s Ramblin’ Rose program was in full swing, they would donate all the money to this program to purchase school supplies for children for the start of the new school year.
